G75VX laptop

In a recent ruling, the ASA considered a consumer complaint against an ASUS internet advertisement that promised "Immersive 3D experience” with regard to its G75VX laptop. The advertising contained various phrases and claims stating that it offers users 3D photos, videos and gaming. The complainant submitted that he had bought the advertised laptop and discovered that it does not have 3D capability, contrary to what the advertisement promises.

All reasonable steps were taken by the ASA to elicit a response from the advertiser, but the advertiser failed to respond on the merits. Based on the information before it, the ASA Directorate ruled that the claim promising that the advertised laptop has 3D capability was currently unsubstantiated and had to be removed.

The ASA therefore request members not to accept advertising from ASUSTEK COMPUTER INC. for the G75VX laptop where any claims implying 3D capability are made.
