A CALL TO REVISE THE CODE OF ADVERTISING PRACTICE
The Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (the ASA) would like to invite all interested parties to submit proposals for amending the Code of Advertising Practice for the year 2009. Proposals should be well motivated and must reach the ASA by 31 March 2009.
The Code is revised annually to keep pace with societal changes in South Africa as well as to reflect evolving advertising practice worldwide.
Submissions are invited from consumer organisations, members of the public s well as the marketing communications industry. While the ASA co-ordinates the Code revision process, input from the public as well as the marketing communications industry will shape the rules which the ASA will apply. The full Code can be viewed on the ASA’s website www.asasa.org.za.
A Code Review Committee will consider all proposals for change and will make recommendations which will finally be approved at the ASA’s Annual General Meeting.
